Farki Farki movie attempts to introduce a new concept of a time loop in Nepali cinema. While time loops and time travel are not new to us, as we have seen them in many Hollywood and Bollywood films like “Dark,” “Doctor Strange,” “Tenet,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “24,” and “Action Replayy.” etc. This film presents a fresh twist where the time loop activates when the main character makes a mistake naturally.

The movie starts similarly to other Anmol KC films. Maddy goes to a club. His name is Maddy in this film Madhav Singh Basnet AKA Maddy. He meets his friends, and encounters his future love interest each other Jassita started crush on him but he initially ignores her. Instead, he flirts with other girls, establishing his character as a carefree playboy. He thinks of himself as an alpha male, a trait rooted in his childhood when he used to bully his friends at school. This particular night is his friend Subash’s birthday, but he doesn’t give Subash a proper birthday treat. On their way back from the club, they stop at a chautara, where they discuss the lack of a proper celebration. A beggar lying there asks for food, and while Maddy shouts at him, Subash gives him food and tells Maddy to leave him alone.

Maddy then picks up an orange and a candle left by worshippers and tells Subash to blow out the candle and make a wish. Subash wishes for Maddy to become a better person and realize his mistakes. Unbeknownst to them, their wish is granted because it is Kartik Purnima, a night when wishes are said to come true, as the beggar had mentioned.

The next morning, Maddy wakes up hungover and sleeps in. He turns on the radio and receives a call from caller id TAUKE, He was his boss who fires him during their conversation. As he heads to the kitchen, he accidentally breaks a vase, triggering the time loop. The scenes rewind, starting again with the phone call. This loop continues until he corrects his mistakes.

At the office, Harkaman Gurung comes to his cabin to request an insurance coverage claim, but Maddey denies it and rudely sends him away. This action repeats, and Maddy is amazed by the loop, realizing it won’t stop until he gets everything right.

Maddy tells his friend Subash about the time loop, with mentioning time loop based movie reference I just forgot which movie he have mentioned. Subash doesn’t believe him. Observing people betting in a restaurant, Maddy decides to use the time loop to win money and prove his point to Subash. He borrows money from Subash, bets, and wins, but when he tries to start the loop by punching a gangster, it doesn’t work that way.

This is just an introduction to the time loop concept. The film explores the origin of this superpower and how it operates. Many audience members in the theater discussed whether the scenes were memorized or overthought. This concept might not be suitable for everyone in Nepali audiences, as we have not seen time travel in Nepali films before. Presenting the idea simply and gradually is more appropriate for the current audience.

The movie then transitions smoothly into a love story with some comedy and time loop scenes. The protagonist eventually wins over his love interest with the help of the loop. However, he realizes that this is not the right way to win her heart. He thinks he is not perfect for her and tries to stay away but finds that he can’t.

Overall, the movie is enjoyable and offers a new experience for Nepali cinema. The production seems well-funded, with nice-quality scenes. Anmol KC and Jassita Gurung delivers a good performance, and the supporting cast, including , Ravi Kafle and Samriddhi Aryal, also perform well in their respective roles. However, every time Anmol KC calls Subash “Subashe,” it sounds awkward. While it’s meant to be humorous and show close friendship, Anmol’s voice makes it sound odd. This might just be my personal taste.
