Man of Steel
A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind. Featuring an all-star cast, Man of Steel offers up an entirely new Superman: alienated, misunderstood, but forever a beacon of hope.
Recently, I watched the movie “Man of Steel” again. I had already seen this movie many years ago, although I’m not sure exactly how long ago. It wasn’t in theaters, and I missed the opportunity to experience it on the big screen. However, I had followed the DC universe movies starting from “Batman vs Superman” and later researched and watched the prequel movie “Man of Steel.”
“Man of Steel” was the first movie of the DC Extended Universe. Before this movie, Warner Bros. had made standalone movies with characters like Superman and Batman, but they were not part of a cinematic universe. With “Man of Steel,” the studio rebooted the storylines and created a new DC Extended Universe under the excellent direction of Zack Snyder.
The movie serves as an origin story for Superman, introducing us to who he is, where he came from, and why he possesses incredible superpowers. If you’re already familiar with the basic concept of Superman, you could potentially skip this movie. However, if you’re interested in watching the film or following the DC universe, I would recommend giving it a chance. The movie is not boring and allows you to experience the flying abilities of Kal-El.
**Spoiler Alert ⚠️**
“Man of Steel” was released in 2013, so it has been ten years since its release. I assume most of you have already watched the movie by now. If you haven’t and are planning to do so, you should skip ahead, as I’m about to discuss some major spoilers.
The movie reveals Superman’s origins. When his mother gives birth to him, their home planet, Krypton, is on the verge of destruction due to resource limitations. The Kryptonians had developed advanced technology but had depleted their planet’s resources. At this critical time, General Zod betrays the government and aims to migrate to another planet, saving the Kryptonian race.
Superman’s father steals the Codex, an ancient Kryptonian artifact that contains the genetic makeup of artificially incubated babies on the planet. He places it inside the newborn baby, and Superman is sent to Earth. However, General Zod kills Superman’s father, and he himself receives a punishment of long-term freezing. Unfortunately, Krypton is destroyed before the sentence can be carried out. Meanwhile, Superman survives on Earth and is adopted by the Kent family. Joseph Kent teaches him the difference between right and wrong, and Superman learns to adapt to the Earth’s environment and live as a human being.
After 33 years, General Zod locates Superman and comes to Earth in search of the Codex. The punishment for General Zod and his followers is lifted since their planet was destroyed. They search for other surviving Kryptonians who were sent to find a suitable planet for migration. However, they find nothing. It takes General Zod 33 years to repair their machines and spaceships.
When they arrive on Earth, they capture Superman and Lois Lane. Zod manipulates them to extract the location of the Codex from their minds. They return to Earth, and high-scale action sequences unfold in the movie. Superhero fights are always beyond reality; that’s what makes them superheroes, after all.
My Recommendation : YES ! You will enjoy the Movie.
After this movie you can watch BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
