F1 THE MOVIE – A Movie Meant for the Big Screen
This movie was truly made for the big screen. Unfortunately, I was one of the unlucky people who missed the chance to watch it in theaters. It had always been on my wishlist, but somehow I never got around to watching it. Recently, as I started hearing that the F1 racing season is beginning soon, I finally decided to watch it — and I realized I had missed a real gem.
To be honest, I have never followed F1 racing seriously. I’ve only watched a few scenes of Formula 1 and MotoGP before. I don’t really know the rules, how the seasons work, or much about the sport itself. I just know that Formula 1 cars are considered the fastest cars in the world.
When I started the movie, I thought Brad Pitt’s character would struggle to enter F1 after MotoGP. But the filmmakers surprised me with a smart storyline — they presented him as a retired driver making a comeback. That idea perfectly matches Brad Pitt’s age, and it feels very believable. He carries so much charm on screen. Throughout the film, he dominates every scene with his presence. Along with him, his teammate and the rest of the team also performed their roles very well. Every actor felt natural and convincing.
Even though I didn’t watch it in theaters, I enjoyed it on my desktop monitor in 4K resolution with Dolby Atmos sound. My Dolby subscription was truly worth it for this film. The camera work, cinematography, VFX, and color grading were impressive. But what stood out the most was the background music. Many cinema lovers already know Hans Zimmer, one of the finest and most popular music composers. His contribution to this film adds so much intensity and emotion. The movie really feels like something designed for a full theater experience.
As for the story — maybe this is a small spoiler, but not really — it follows a classic racing formula. You can kind of guess that the main character will win in the end. Still, the journey is what makes it enjoyable.
This movie also carried the responsibility of introducing F1 rules to viewers like me who are not regular fans of the sport. The makers did a good job of balancing entertainment with basic explanations, making it easier for non-F1 audiences to connect with the story. Professional F1 fans might have a different opinion, especially about how certain rules are presented or slightly manipulated for dramatic effect. But for casual viewers, watching Sonny Hayes strategically bend situations and command his team adds excitement and highlights his intelligence.
Overall, I genuinely regret not watching it in theaters. It was truly an experience meant for the big screen. I highly recommend watching this movie in theaters, or at least on the biggest screen possible with a good sound system to fully enjoy it.
